This one is not fully understood. It causes a Lyme-like bull’s-eye rash after Lone Star tick bites in the South (hence “Southern Tick…”)​. But Borrelia burgdorferi (Lyme bacteria) isn’t present. Some suspect a different Borrelia species might cause it. Symptoms are mild; treatment is often doxycycline just in case. It seems to be a more benign Lyme look-alike confined to the Southeast.
