Not a disease from an infectious agent, but a weird allergic condition caused by tick bites (especially Lone Star ticks). People develop an allergy to red meat (beef, pork, lamb) after being bitten by the tick! We mention this in the Lone Star tick section too, but it’s one of the strangest tick-associated issues. Imagine breaking out in hives or having an allergic reaction hours after eating a burger, all because a tick bite triggered an immune response to a sugar in red meat. It’s becoming more known in the South and Midwest.
